Twice as many women read fiction
A significant difference exists in the consumption of fiction literature between men and women. Statistics from Denmark show that 17% of women read or listen to fiction daily, compared to just 8% of men. The statistics further revealed that one-third of the surveyed men hadn’t engaged with fiction in the past year. The reasons cited for not reading were mostly a lack of interest (50% of men) and a lack of time (33% of men). Among women, the most common reason was also a lack of time. In contrast, daily reading of non-fiction is less frequent, with only 10% of respondents across genders engaging with it nearly every day, although this group is growing.
