Sissal wins Danish Melodi Grand Prix 2025

Sissal, a 30-year-old teacher from the Faroe Islands, won Denmark’s national Eurovision selection, Melodi Grand Prix, with her song ‘Hallucination’. The victory assures her participation in the Eurovision Song Contest in Switzerland, aiming to secure Denmark a spot in the final for the first time since 2019. After Denmark’s ‘historical meltdown’ in 2023, Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR) initiated an analysis, resulting in criteria for selection including a strong song, vocal, and performance. Sissal expressed her readiness to compete and reach the final. The Danish national final winner was decided over two rounds of voting, combining both audience and international jury votes. Sissal was considered the biggest favorite to win since Emmelie de Forest in 2013, who also won the international contest.
