Danish aid to train Ukrainian women in trades
Denmark is providing a 250 million kroner aid package to Ukraine, with some funds earmarked for training Ukrainian women as craftsmen, tractor drivers, and electricians. This initiative addresses the shortage of skilled workers in the trades due to men being engaged on the battlefield. Denmark’s Minister for Development Cooperation and Global Climate Policy, Dan Jørgensen, announced the resources for further education in Mykolajiv, including 30 million kroner for educational materials and facilities. The package also supports infrastructure repair, notably fixing the water supply in Mykolajiv, and includes purchasing school buses and donating 3000 hearing aids. At the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin, Jørgensen aims to highlight Denmark’s lead in rebuilding Mykolajiv and the importance of continued European support for Ukraine, amidst some parties suggesting reduced assistance.
