Afghans sentenced in Sweden terror plot
A German court has sentenced two Afghan men to prison for planning a terrorist attack on the Swedish Parliament. As reported by Sveriges Radio Ekot on Thursday, one man received a five and a half year sentence while the other was given four years and two months. They were in close contact with the Islamic State in Khorasan Province (ISKP) to carry out an assault, purportedly in retaliation for Quran burnings in Sweden. Their plan entailed killing at least ten people, including police officers. The judgment was passed in Jena, and the men, aged 23 and 30, were arrested last March following an operation in Gera, about 60 km south of Leipzig. They had also attempted several times to acquire weapons and were believed to be willing to die in the attack.
