Copenhagen airports soar to billion profit

Copenhagen Airports has seen a significant increase in profit due to higher tariffs and an upsurge in passenger numbers. Compared to the same period last year, the airport’s revenue jumped by 25%, amounting to a total of 3.8 billion Danish kroner for the first nine months. The profit before tax has more than doubled, reaching just over one billion kroner. Passenger traffic through September totaled 22.8 million, 2.5 million more than the previous year. The full-year projection anticipates 29.8 million passengers, potentially bringing the pre-tax profit to between 1.25 and 1.4 billion kroner. July marked a record with 3.2 million travelers, making it the airport’s busiest month ever. Airport tariffs, what airlines pay for using the facilities, rose by 28% in a new agreement reached at the end of summer 2023, coming into effect from 2024 for four years. This is seen against a backdrop of a 9% decline in tariffs since 2017.
