PET closely monitors situation after Washington D.C. shooting
Following the shooting in Washington D.C. where two employees from the Israeli embassy in the USA were killed, Denmark’s PET is closely monitoring the situation. PET has implemented security measures and provided recommendations to protect Israeli and Jewish interests in Denmark. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced worldwide increased embassy security. The Israeli embassy in Denmark won’t disclose if there has been communication with PET or Israeli authorities after the incident nor the implications of Netanyahu’s statement. The shooting occurred at the Capital Jewish Museum, and the suspect, Elias Rodriguez, has been arrested. He allegedly expressed pro-Palestinian sentiments. The Israeli embassy in Denmark describes the incident as a hate crime and an anti-Semitic act, attributing it to global incitement against Israel.
