Housing listings peak since November 2019
As of early April, the number of houses for sale in Denmark reached 34,439, marking a 4.8 percent increase compared to the previous month, hitting the highest level since November 2019. This seasonal rise is typical during spring, but the near five percent increase is on the higher side, according to Birgit Daetz from Boligsiden. The total number of listed houses has gone up by 15.1 percent compared to April of the previous year. The apartment market has also grown, with a 1.6 percent increase in listings since early March, albeit in Copenhagen there has been a 1.9 percent dip. This is attributed to changes in tax assessments and new tax reforms that have made the apartment market less attractive as higher taxes took effect on January 1, 2024. Additionally, the number of summer houses for sale has risen by 20 percent since March, reaching the highest amount listed since October 2020.
