New youth education reform welcomed
Business organizations and trade unions have praised the government’s new reform of youth education, calling it necessary and a game changer. The reform will introduce a new profession-oriented gymnasium education called ‘epx’ by 2030, and the 10th grade will be abolished. According to Dansk Industri (DI), the epx program’s mix of vocational training and general education will provide a better foundation for young people. The Chairman of the Confederation of Danish Industry, Lars Sandahl Sørensen, states that the reform challenges a system that ineffectively forces young individuals into early educational decisions. Morten Skov Christiansen of Denmark’s Main Organization for Workers (FH) hails the reform as a significant victory, offering practical and theoretical training and allowing youths to find their path. Jakob Brandt, director of the organization SMV Denmark, believes this reform is a necessary step towards educating more skilled professionals.
