NATO: Self-defense not war escalation

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg stated on Friday that self-defense does not escalate war in response to Russia’s threats. He insists that NATO will not be intimidated by President Putin’s threats since the war began. During a heated debate, there was a question of Ukraine’s right to attack targets in Russia with Western weapons. Stoltenberg suggested a €100 billion military support fund for Ukraine over five years and urged sustaining the current military aid level of €40 billion annually. Since Russia’s 2022 invasion, allies have provided around €40 billion in aid to Ukraine each year, emphasizing the need for ongoing support. The U.S. has eased weapon use restrictions, allowing Ukraine to target inside Russia, confirmed by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
