Danish leaders condemn attack on Trump

The Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, expressed that the shooting of former President Donald Trump in the USA was completely unacceptable, calling political violence intolerable in society. Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen emphasized that an attack on a presidential candidate is an attack on democracy. Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen labeled the shooting as poison for democracy and expressed shock over the assassination attempt that has resulted in fatalities. Trump, running for president with the Republican Party, sustained a graze wound to his right ear during a voter meeting in Butler, Pennsylvania. The shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, a registered Republican voter from Berthel Park, Pennsylvania, was shot dead by authorities. The incident also claimed the life of a spectator and left two severely injured. Trump is expected to attend the Republican Party’s convention starting Monday, where he is anticipated to be formally nominated.
