Tax agency seeks owners for 13.6M DKK
The Danish Tax Agency is searching for the owners of 13.6 million Danish kroner across 698 accounts and 80 securities deposits lacking required identification details. The agency has published notices in the Official State Gazette, Statstidende, for a year, with a deadline of April 29th, after which the funds will be transferred to the state treasury. Director Michael Medom Hansen urges people to check if they or someone they know are listed and contact their bank. After the deadline, citizens are unlikely to reclaim their funds. One account holds over 800,000 kroner, with several others exceeding 100,000 kroner. In total, the assets in the securities deposits are worth 9.2 million kroner. The agency aims to return these funds to their rightful owners. Unclaimed accounts are blocked for a year before being published for claims, or else they default to the state. In 2022, owners reclaimed 9.5 million kroner, avoiding forfeiture.
