SF proposes billions for pollution cleanup
SF seeks to invest 2.5 billion DKK from Denmark’s green fiscal space by 2030 to clean up long-standing pollution sites. Signe Munk, SF political spokesperson, emphasizes the importance of addressing these environmental concerns for the sake of future generations. Denmark has ten significant pollution areas, which are legacies of chemical factory leaks, rendering the land toxic and unusable. Regional authorities, responsible for cleanup, are currently underfunded, says Munk. The proposal includes remediation funds for notorious sites like Høfde 42, contaminated by Cheminova, where local authorities await promised cleanup funds. The green fiscal space, designed by the Parliament in 2022, earmarks annual billions for green initiatives until 2040, totaling 53 billion DKK. SF’s proposal also plans for eventual removal of widespread PFAS contamination, once the technology becomes available.
