Denmark to host migration conference
Denmark is set to host an international conference on migration on May 6th, as announced by the Ministry of Immigration and Integration. Key decision-makers and experts from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa will attend the event in Copenhagen. Participants include Danish ministers for immigration and development cooperation. The conference comes after the EU Parliament adopted an asylum and migration pact aimed at a coordinated EU response. Critics include Danish Refugee Council and Médecins Sans Frontières. The conference’s goal, voiced by Minister Kaare Dybvad Bek, is to discuss new solutions for what he calls a deeply dysfunctional system, with hopes to foster new partnerships benefiting refugees. The exact attendee list is still unclear, but will include ministers from numerous countries and representatives from EU institutions, UN agencies, and various organizations.
