Insurance claims surge after severe weather
Intense weather in Denmark has kept insurance companies Tryg and Topdanmark busy with a spike in water and precipitation damage claims. Low pressure system ‘Florian’ triggered around 320 damage reports to Tryg, with 65% related to water infiltration in homes, particularly affecting central Denmark and areas down to the German border. Topdanmark reported about 200 damage claims by Tuesday, mostly due to precipitation, and advised caution against fallen trees and loose roof tiles. Tryg expects claims to rise as customers assess damage. They’ve had a busy start to 2025, indicating customers heeded warnings and took preventive measures against property damage.
