Denmark open to sending peacekeepers to Ukraine

Denmark is prepared to contribute peacekeeping forces to Ukraine if needed, says Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen. Ideally, Denmark wants a NATO-based solution, involving Danish troops already stationed in the Baltics. Denmark’s capacity to provide personnel and equipment is limited due to a long period of defense downprioritization and significant military donations to Ukraine in recent years. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen expressed an ‘open mind’ on the matter following a London summit discussing how Europe can support a lasting peace for war-torn Ukraine. The summit occurred after a public disagreement between presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyj and Donald Trump. European leaders are emphasizing the need to increase support for Ukraine and boost their own military capabilities, with the UK and France willing to lead a European peace model with peacekeeping soldiers.
