Arrest Made in 34-Year-Old Murder Case
A 53-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the murder of 23-year-old Hanne With on New Year’s night in 1990 in Copenhagen. The breakthrough was announced by the Copenhagen Police and was made possible by advances in DNA technology. The suspect, a resident of Randers, was arrested at his workplace in Northern Jutland and subsequently had a mouth swab in Copenhagen. DNA material found on the victim’s trousers indicates the perpetrator is a close family member of someone in the police DNA registry. The match was made at the end of 2023, leading to the arrest. The man, who denies the charges as stated by his lawyer Søren Bech, appeared in court for a preliminary hearing.
