Israel: Danish-Israeli hostage murdered by Hamas
The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office states that the Danish-Israeli citizen Itzik Elgarat was murdered while in Hamas captivity. This contradicts Hamas’ previous claim that Elgarat died due to an Israeli airstrike. During a recent exchange, four bodies were returned from Hamas to Israel. The surprise attack on southern Israel resulted in 251 hostages and about 1200 deaths. In response, an Israeli offensive against Gaza caused at least 48,000 Palestinian casualties. A ceasefire is currently in place, with 33 Israeli hostages exchanged and around 2000 Palestinian prisoners released. The Israeli President confirmed that Elgarat was among the deceased. Danish Foreign Minister, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, expressed deep distress over the news.
