Here are the most popular cat names in Denmark

For the third consecutive year, Simba remains the most popular name for male cats. New names, such as Karla and Maggie for female cats, and Alfred and Gizmo for male cats, have entered the top-10 rankings, according to a press release by Agria Animal Insurance. The data was gathered from new cat insurance policies signed last year. Notably, all the leading names have two syllables and are often names that could be given to a human child. Lotte Evers, Agria’s marketing manager, notes that as cats have become part of the family inside homes, it makes sense that they are often given human names. Additionally, the influence of pop culture, particularly the Disney universe and films like ‘The Lion King’ with its various adaptations, is evident in the naming trends. Simba and Nala, names from ‘The Lion King,’ have been particularly influential, with Nala now the third most popular name for female cats.
