Major layoffs at Danish Crown’s HQ
A substantial number of the announced layoffs at Danish Crown have struck its Randers headquarters, affecting 175 staff, reports Finans and Randers Amtsavis. These are due to economic challenges, with the company struggling with too few pigs and high costs. This has led to continuous trimming of the organization to align expenses with earnings, as emphasized by CEO Niels Duedahl. The restructuring will impact 278 Danish positions and also international staff. Decreased pig prices have caused farmers to switch to exports, significantly influencing operations, such as closing the Ringsted facility. Another hit came when a major supplier decided to send pigs to a competitor, affecting up to 380,000 pigs out of the nine million Danish Crown processes annually.
