Danish minister visits India for health staff recruitment

Danish Education and Research Minister Christina Egelund is traveling to India’s capital, New Delhi, to discuss healthcare personnel recruitment. Denmark and India have recently agreed to explore these possibilities following a declaration of intent. A political agreement in January allowed for easier employment of up to 1000 health workers from non-EU countries in Denmark, focusing on countries like India and the Philippines. The agreement expands the skilled jobs ‘positive list’ to include social and healthcare helpers, amid workforce shortages in nursing and elder care. Egelund intends to develop an equitable educational collaboration that benefits both countries. She emphasizes the need for innovative approaches to alleviate Denmark’s healthcare sector workforce shortages.
