Randers takes charge of Ølst landslide again
Randers Municipality will resume authority over the Ølst landslide from February 1st, as stated in a release from the Ministry of Environment. This transfer is due to the inability to secure further expenses for preventative measures, after assessment by lawyers. The Environment Ministry confirms continued efforts to prevent serious environmental damage from the landslide. The landslide works have been ongoing since December. Following Nordic Waste’s bankruptcy, which prevented the use of environmental damage law, Randers Municipality regains responsibility and potential costs. The national government allocated DKK 205 million for cleanup efforts, part of which has already been spent. The government will seek parliamentary support to allocate the remaining funds for the emergency response, and collaboration with the Environmental Agency will persist.
