DFDS secures Turkish Ekol Logistics

DFDS, a Danish shipping company, revives its acquisition of Ekol Logistics’ international network after renegotiating terms, with the transaction valued at 1.8 billion DKK. The deal had been initially cancelled on November 1 due to disagreements over debt included in the purchase. Ekol Logistics handles transport between Turkey and Europe, operating facilities in ten European countries. The acquisition bolsters DFDS’s capabilities in operating an efficient and reliable transport infrastructure that promotes Turkey’s growth as a production hub. This move also enhances DFDS’s Mediterranean freight ferry business and expands its European logistics network, creating direct transport and logistics connections with Turkey. The deal’s resurgence led to a 4% increase in DFDS’s stock price after a previous 10% fall when the original deal was cancelled.
