New agreement for 180,000 retail employees

Danish Chamber of Commerce (Dansk Erhverv) and the Union of Commercial and Clerical Employees in Denmark (HK Handel) have agreed on a new collective bargaining agreement for approximately 180,000 retail employees. A press conference is expected to deliver news on Friday, with the agreement slated to span three years, though details are currently unknown. Negotiations were led by Laurits Rønn for the employers and Mette Høgh for the employees. Prior to negotiations, HK Handel gathered a record-high 17,000 suggestions from members, indicating high interest in wage increases and more work flexibility. The industrial sector earlier set a precedent with their agreement, usually influencing the financial framework for subsequent private sector agreements. HK Handel emphasized that more flexible work life was a theme, with pensions increasing. A majority vote among private sector employees across all trade unions and employers is required to ratify the agreement.
