Port Chief defends against criticism of Gade

Dennis Jul Pedersen, Director of Esbjerg Port, refutes criticism of Søren Gade holding dual roles as Chairman of the Folketing and as Chairman of the Board for the port. The debate follows the presentation of a fleet plan that includes the option for Danish production of warships. Pedersen emphasizes that there are no conflicts given the port’s role is unrelated to the business decisions of companies renting its space. Danish People’s Party and the Danmarksdemokraterne have voiced concerns over the perceived conflict of interest. However, Pedersen clarifies that the port’s bid focuses on creating facilities to support allies rather than to build warships. Esbjerg Port, being a NATO port, is seen by Pedersen as a strategic location for potential Danish frigate production.
