Danish industry calls for crisis readiness

Lars Sandahl Sørensen, the CEO of Danish Industry, criticizes Denmark’s lack of preparedness for major crises, contrasting the country’s sectoral responsibility approach to the centralized authority seen in neighboring Nordic countries. He argues that while sectoral responsibility is a fitting Danish solution, there is a need for improved coordination and development between sectors, requiring a central capable organization with the mandate to do so. Sandahl Sørensen suggests possibly delegating responsibility to the National Operational Staff, which coordinated during the COVID-19 crisis. Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen acknowledges the government’s intention to work towards an agreement on future emergency management but does not commit to a specific model.
