Firefighting continues at historic exchange building
Firefighters worked through Wednesday night to extinguish small fires at ‘Børsen’, the historic building in central Copenhagen. While the primary task shifted to monitoring and control, efforts also focused on securing the building’s freestanding external walls to prevent collapse. The fire, which started early Tuesday morning, was under control by the afternoon, but half of the 400-year-old structure, including the exchange hall, was gutted, leaving only the outer walls intact. Around 20 firefighters remained overnight for these tasks. Over 300 people, including firefighters, police, and soldiers from the Royal Guard, were involved in the operations. Stabilization of the walls involves placing 40 to 50 containers filled with concrete blocks. The completion timeline for setting up the containers and reopening the surrounding roads is not yet clear.
