SAS sees continued growth in passenger numbers
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) reports a rise in passenger volumes with 2.5 million travelers in July, a 5% increase from last year. The aircraft’s load factor, indicating how well flights are filled, was high at 87 percent. However, Jacob Pedersen of Sydbank notes that ticket prices were slightly lower than the previous year. He also suggests that traffic was slightly weaker, but load factor was somewhat better than expected. The increase indicates SAS’s commercial progress despite future challenges given the downward pressure on ticket prices, particularly as the airline prepares to exit bankruptcy protection. SAS expects to conclude its restructuring process this summer, subject to shifts in the timeline. A consortium including Castlelake, Air France-KLM, Lind Invest, and the Danish state has approved an investment plan of 13.2 billion Swedish kronor to take over ownership.
