Pernille Skipper to chair Coop Amba unopposed
Former left-wing politician Pernille Skipper is poised to become the new chairperson of Coop Amba, a cooperative with no other candidates running against her. She will assume the role officially on April 20 at a council meeting, following the nomination deadline on a recent Friday night. Coop Amba owns Coop Denmark, which operates Kvickly, SuperBrugsen, and 365discount. Skipper, who didn’t run for re-election in 2022 due to her party’s rotation principle, was praised for her political insight and communication skills by Niels Mayland, the council chairperson of Coop, back in January. She aims to enhance Coop’s visibility and its core values, emphasizing member-owned retail prioritizing sustainability, health, and consumers. Skipper acknowledges Coop’s past crisis and the current major transformation separating business and union as she prepares to succeed Lasse Bolander.
