Netanyahu to visit White House as first foreign leader
Benjamin Netanyahu is set to meet with president Trump at The White House on February 4, marking the first foreign leader invited during Trump’s second term, announced by Netanyahu’s office and AFP. Previously, Trump showed support for Israel, lifting sanctions against right-wing settlers and discussing an upcoming meeting with Netanyahu. During a ceasefire in Gaza, Trump suggested relocating Palestinians to Jordan and Egypt, but faced a lack of support from those countries and European governments. In his prior term, Trump deviated from long-standing U.S. views by not considering Israeli settlers illegal and recognized Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights, moves not widely accepted internationally.
