New committee to oversee defense operations set

After a year’s delay, the Danish Ministry of Defense is set to establish a new expert committee in August to provide recommendations for maintaining the Armed Forces as a well-run and efficient organization. The committee’s formation was initially decided in the summer of 2023’s defense agreement, and it was planned for the fall of 2023, but has been postponed until now. Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen, responding to Liberal Alliance’s defense spokesperson Carsten Bach, cited the delay was due to a heavy workload on other critical defense tasks and the importance of carefully selecting highly qualified and experienced members. The committee will focus on three main areas: economic management, organization and leadership structure, and ensuring maximum defense value for money. Despite the delay, Poulsen emphasizes that the ministry is actively working towards an efficient and well-managed defense.
