58% of new jobs in three Danish municipalities
Within the last year, 58% of job growth in Denmark occurred in the municipalities of Copenhagen, Gladsaxe, and Aarhus, accounting for a collective increase of 19,000 jobs, as reported by Dansk Erhverv based on special runs from Statistics Denmark. The growth is noticeable in industries such as service, trade, and transport. Remarkable growth is observed in Gladsaxe and Kalundborg, largely due to Novo Nordisk’s success abroad. However, 39 municipalities faced job losses, with Høje-Taastrup losing 700 jobs and Frederikshavn 600, significantly impacted by the closure of the Danish Crown factory. Chief economist Kristian Skriver points out a regional imbalance in job growth, with potential implications for Denmark’s overall inequality, despite low unemployment in some areas.
