MobilePay users will soon be able to send money to Southern Europe

By next summer, users should be able to send money to individuals in Spain, Italy, Portugal, and Poland using a swipe in the MobilePay app, according to Vipps MobilePay’s press release. The company has joined a project involving several European digital wallet providers to enable cross-border services. This means Danish MobilePay users can transfer money to Spanish Bizum users similarly to transferring among MobilePay users. The collaboration could reach over 100 million users across Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Poland. Future expansions are also anticipated. Initial test payments between Nordic and other countries are expected in a few months. Currently, a four percent fee is imposed for cross-border transactions in Nordic countries, but fees for other countries remain unspecified. Vipps MobilePay has around 12 million users in Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands.
