NATO commits €40 Billion support to Ukraine

NATO has pledged €40 billion in military support to Ukraine for the following year, down from an initial proposal of €100 billion over five years, as stated at the NATO summit in Washington. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg calls this a ‘minimum’ amount. The commitment is not legally binding for future administrations, hence it could be overturned by new leaders. The alliance will coordinate military support and train Ukrainian soldiers, including the provision of advanced air defense systems to protect against Russian attacks. Denmark has agreed to help provide a million small attack drones. NATO is also founding a training center in Poland to align Ukrainian military capabilities with NATO standards, a move that supports Ukraine’s long-term goal of joining NATO.
