SF criticizes Social Democrats’ ocean plans
Pia Olsen Dyhr, leader of the Socialist People’s Party (SF), denounces the Social Democrats for not taking decisive action to improve Denmark’s sea environment and reduce nitrogen emissions. She accuses them of prioritizing agricultural interests following the Liberal Party’s rhetoric. This criticism comes amidst severe oxygen depletion resulting in lifeless sea beds, extensively reported by Berlingske. Although parliamentary parties agreed to cut nitrogen emissions by 18,000 tons by 2027, Dyhr insists on hastening efforts due to deteriorating conditions. She claims Social Democrats only advance green initiatives under pressure, as seen when they were pushed by SF prior to 2022. Dyhr calls for an urgent link between carbon taxes and nitrogen emission reductions to show true commitment to the environment. Environment Minister Heunicke from the Social Democrats refutes the claim of subservience to agriculture, emphasizing his dedication to the ocean’s well-being.
