Two candidates for New Right’s chair
New Right have two official contenders for party leader: Former MP Martin Henriksen and Daniel Fischer. Frederik Meyer Johannesen confirmed this before their extraordinary general meeting in Fredericia. The party’s future is uncertain since founder Pernille Vermund proposed dissolving it in January. The parliamentary group has collapsed, with Vermund and others like Kim Edberg Andersen and Peter Seier Christensen leaving or becoming inactive. The party has been declining since the November 2022 election, losing several key members to other parties or independent status. Close to 300 members are expected at the meeting where the leadership contest follows a critical discussion on the party’s continuation.
