Jam and chocolate price drop lowers inflation

Denmark’s annual inflation rate fell to 0.8% in February, a 0.4 percentage point decrease from January, led by price reductions in sugary items like jam and chocolate. Søren Kristensen from Sydbank notes that this demonstrates effective inflation control, despite concerns like rising freight rates and a tight job market. He suggests that the Danish might see real wage increases soon. Public sector workers recently secured wage rises, and the impact of high energy costs on inflation is dwindling. Palle Sørensen from Nykredit expects prices to climb again, influenced by less impact from energy costs and increased wages in the service sector, along with the reintroduction of electricity taxes until June.
