Designers chosen for new Danish banknotes

Signe Parkins and Thomas Pålsson have been selected by the National Bank of Denmark to design new Danish banknotes in collaboration with the bank’s design chief, Jeanette Skov Jensen. Highlighting their artistic skills and technical expertise in security printing, the two illustrators will contribute to the motifs that will feature famous individuals such as the writer H.C. Andersen and explorer Arnarulunnguaq. The final design will be presented in the first half of 2026, with the new notes expected to release in 2028, showcasing enhanced security features to prevent counterfeiting. The American company Crane Currency will transfer the illustrations and motifs to the technical design. Moreover, banknotes issued between 1944-1997 will be invalidated after May 31, 2025, but can still be used for transactions or deposited in bank accounts until May 31, 2024.
