Lars Boje’s new party is officially approved
The Danish ministry of interior and health has granted Lars Boje Mathiesen official approval for his new Citizens’ Party, which will be eligible for the next parliamentary election. He aims to shake up traditional parties in Christiansborg that he thinks have forgotten whom they serve. The party, which was announced in April 2024, and obtained the required 20,195 voter declarations by December, now boasts 700 members. Mathiesen emphasizes a novel approach to member participation in a parliamentary system, where members are involved in daily party decisions through direct voting, not just annual endorsements. He has a political history with The Liberal Alliance and New Right. As an independent, he doesn’t align with traditional left-right politics but advocates for the interests of drivers by proposing the removal of vehicle taxes.
