Government parties reject Nato plan b
Danish governing parties, Socialdemokratiet and Moderaterne, dismiss the need for an alternative to Nato, as suggested by Liberal Alliance. Defense spokespersons Simon Kollerup and Peter Have emphasize that there’s no indication from the U.S. that it would withdraw from its Nato commitments, including the Article 5 ‘musketeer oath’ – a mutual defense agreement. LA’s Henrik Dahl expressed concerns about the reliability of the U.S. in fulfilling the Article 5 commitment but Peter Have stated the existing alliances are sufficient and that even if the U.S. were to leave Nato, the alliance itself would still exist.
