Forensic access granted to charred Børsen
The Greater Copenhagen Fire Department have completed their work at the site of the Børsen building, transitioning the area to a construction zone. Soon, police technicians from the National Criminal Technological Center (NKC) will begin investigating the cause of the fire, said Deputy Police Commissioner Anders Ellegaard. Work will be coordinated with on-site contractors due to the presence of heavy materials requiring manipulation for evidence gathering. Despite the significant damage and stabilization needs for the building’s outer walls, the technicians are equipped and experienced to handle post-fire environments. They have various tools, including arson dogs, to assist in identifying flammable substances. Initial investigative efforts will focus on narrowing down the area of interest based on witness accounts, photos, and videos. NKC handles the technical aspects of the investigation while Copenhagen Police manage tactical elements. The cause of the fire remains undetermined at the early stages of the investigation.
