Home buying interest peaks since 2022
The interest in purchasing a property has been consistently rising since the turn of the year, hitting a peak in September not seen since 2022, according to Finans Danmark. A total of 5,429 loan offers for the purchase of owner-occupied homes and summerhouses were solicited in September. The increase in interest is attributed to a year of stable inflation, low unemployment, and wage increases. However, despite the rise, these numbers do not match the high interest seen during the pandemic, when over 9,000 loan offers were issued in single months of 2021. Economists, including Anton Thorell Carøe from Arbejdernes Landsbank, anticipate that interest could grow further with declining interest rates, especially if 3.5% loans become dominant over 4% loans, potentially opening a window for loan conversion.
