Danish aid of millions to war-torn Gaza
The Danish government has announced a humanitarian aid package of 60 million Danish kroner to Palestinians in Gaza, aiming to prevent a humanitarian disaster by providing food, water, and necessities. Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen stated the funds would also support vaccination programs and expressed confidence in organizations like UNICEF, UNRWA, and WHO to efficiently deliver the aid. He highlighted the challenges of logistics due to bureaucratic and administrative barriers, including a 100 km controlled corridor and rigorous checks. Approximately 1500 trucks are currently waiting to enter Gaza from Egypt, with a limited number allowed entry, causing chaos and looting. Rasmussen emphasized that the escalating humanitarian crisis, intensified after Hamas’ October 7 terror attack and a violent retaliation, can only be resolved with a ceasefire.
