Record number of staff abroad for Danish companies

In 2022, Danish subsidiaries employed more staff abroad than ever before, a total of 1.69 million people across around 15,200 subsidiaries, marking a 2.4% increase from the previous year. Companies like Novo Nordisk significantly contribute to this figure, having more employees abroad than in Denmark. France, Poland, Germany, India, and the USA are the top countries with Danish corporate employees. This international presence has positively influenced Denmark’s economy, demonstrated by a projected 2.4% growth rate for 2024, highlighting the importance of overseas production. Chief economist Allan Sørensen from Dansk Industri emphasizes that overseas expansion is crucial for growth, allowing cost-effective production and market access. Notably, however, there has been a decline in Danish subsidiaries and their employees in Russia, with a 20% drop in staff compared to the previous year.
