Russia warns Denmark against ship restrictions

Russia warns of retaliation if Denmark restricts Russian ships in the Baltic Sea, as stated by a Russian foreign ministry spokesperson, with Reuters reporting. Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen remains calm, assuring adherence to international laws. This reaction comes amid concerns over dilapidated Russian oil tankers, described as old and used to evade sanctions, navigating through Danish waters and referred to as the ‘shadow fleet.’ Denmark pushes for more EU actions against this fleet. At least 15 Russian tankers since the new year have rejected Danish navigational aid, against international advice. The Danish Defence monitors maritime traffic, including Russian military vessels, according to maritime conventions. The Danish Ministry of Defence has not commented on the Russian statement.
