Nordic-Baltic states pledge more support for Ukraine

During a summit at the Harpsund residence of the Swedish Prime Minister, leaders from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Iceland, and Poland agreed to a joint statement promising increased support for Ukraine in its conflict against Russia. The commitment includes bolstering Ukraine’s defense industry and supplying more ammunition in the following months. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen conveyed the necessity to rapidly escalate support, stating that current efforts are insufficient and emphasizing that Russia does not desire peace. If a free Europe is to be maintained, supplying Ukraine with what is needed on the battlefield is essential. The summit is part of the Nordic-Baltic cooperation, NB8, and also focused on transatlantic relations and security in the Baltic Sea.
