Denmark renews offshore wind collaboration with South Korea
Danish Climate, Energy and Utilities Minister Lars Aagaard has renewed the country’s energy cooperation with South Korea to support its goal of installing 14.3 gigawatts of offshore wind by 2030. As of 2022’s end, South Korea had over 1.6 GW of wind power, mostly from onshore turbines. The partnership involves knowledge exchange on bidding processes, power grid planning, and renewable energy integration. South Korea, having significant experience in hydrogen production, reciprocates by aiding Denmark in this sector. Danish companies are notably contributing more than 6.2 GW to South Korea’s offshore wind targets, with leading firms like CIP and Ørsted playing major roles. The collaboration is moving from early planning stages to tangible investments and relies on manpower and expertise rather than specific financial commitments.
