Korsør to celebrate 600th anniversary with Royal Run

Korsør has been selected as one of the host cities for next year’s Royal Run, celebrating the town’s 600th anniversary in 2025. This was announced on the event’s website on Thursday. The Mayor of Slagelse Municipality, Knud Vincents (V), expressed excitement about welcoming thousands of runners and showing off Korsør during the large running event scheduled for 9th June next year. Other cities including Ribe, Viborg, and Horsens will also host the Royal Run, with the fifth city to be revealed on Friday. The annual Royal Run, first held in 2018 in honor of Crown Prince Frederik’s 50th birthday, hit a participant record this year with 95,330 entries. The event is organized by ‘Bevæg dig for livet’, a collaboration among Danish sports organizations. Director Morten Mølholm Hansen from Danmarks Idrætsforbund believes it will be a significant event that celebrates movement and community. Registration for the Royal Run is expected to open in November.
