New property assessments trigger rush on BBR
Last year, visits to Denmark’s Building and Housing Register (BBR) website soared by 75%, reaching 2.1 million. This surge coincides with the distribution of letters from the Valuation Agency to homeowners, urging them to verify BBR information accuracy in light of new property assessments. Accurate BBR data is vital, impacting billions in both private and public sectors, including insurance companies. Heating source accuracy is highlighted, as incorrect details can skew valuations, which homeowners frequently update, particularly with recent shifts from oil heating. Underdirector of the Valuation Agency, Claus Houmann, emphasizes the importance of citizen participation in keeping BBR current for more precise valuations and facilitating the investigation of cases with valuation discrepancies. Homeowners are legally required to ensure BBR data reflects reality.
