University of Copenhagen in top 100
The University of Copenhagen (KU) ranks as the only Danish university among the top 100 in the world, according to the annual list by Times Higher Education, placing it at number 97. This ranking is its best since 2022 when it was 96th; subsequent years saw KU at 114 in 2023 and 103 in 2024. The assessment relies on indicators like the learning environment, research environment, and quality of research, as well as international outlook and industry collaboration. According to David Dreyer Lassen, the pro-rector for research, the list reflects international reputation, and Danish universities aren’t as well-known internationally due to fewer international students. The University of Oxford has been number one for the past nine years. Other Danish institutions like Aarhus University and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) are also listed at ranks 110 and 124 respectively. Over 2,000 institutions from 133 countries are ranked.
