Employment remains strong: 700 more working
Employment in Denmark continues to break records, with statistics showing an increase to 3,022,500 wage earners in May, the highest ever, with 700 more than the previous month. Over the last year, employment has increased in 10 out of the past 12 months, adding 31,100 workers, primarily in the private sector. Chief economist Jeppe Juul Borre from Arbejdernes Landsbank observes that employment seems resilient to inflation, interest rate hikes, and economic uncertainties. Fresh data indicates continuous strong demand for workers; more than 24,000 new job listings appeared in June, marking a robust labor market. Allan Sørensen from Danish Industry (DI) expects slight employment growth over the next eighteen months, despite a slowdown from recent years. According to Danish Chamber of Commerce, foreigners accounted for 75% of the employment growth over the past year, and senior economist Kristian Skriver believes that foreign labor will be key to sustaining employment growth.
